Protecting Your Organ

When planning a renovation project in your church, one needs to consider protecting the organ. The pipe organ is a majestic and mighty instrument with a long-standing role in religious history. It is a piece of craftsmanship and art, but it is also an investment that needs attention and care. In today's fast-paced world, there are few investments made that can be expected to last centuries. Shown here is the 2007 Casavant Frères Opus 3865 a 3-manual, 39 stop, 47 rank organ located at Grace Episcopal Church in Gainesville, Georgia. The planned project at Grace Episcopal was the roof shingles of the building needing to be replaced and sanding of the altar was to be done.  We covered the console, blower, case work and internal chambers with plastic. The shades are locked closed and all doors are taped so no dust can get into the chambers. After the renovation project is complete, the plastic is removed and the organ tuned.
